Gohira Dam is situated near village Ambaghat in Deogarh district of Orissa. The Dam intercepts a fan-shaped catchment area of 236 km2 in Deogarh hill ranges across river Gohira a right bank tributary of river Brahmani. The construction of the project was started in 1977 and was fully completed by 1985. The dam is a homogenous rolled fill earth dam of total length 3550m with maximum height of 28m above the deepest foundation level. This is a Famous Picnic Place for local and nearby people. The scenery in Gohira Dam is refresh and surrounding of Dam is pleasure to watch.
How To Reach: From Deogarh Town you have to take national highway towards Sambalpur. After Tileibani Chawk (20kms from Deogarh) take National Highway Road towards Sambalpur. On Kapasira (6kms from Tileibani) take Left turn on the road towards Gohira Dam road. Gohira Dam is 5kms from Kapasira and 31kms from Deogarh Town.
